Katie Hall, Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy
Hello
I am a Physiotherapist living here in Cambridge with my husband and family of two sons, one dog and four chickens!
I studied Physiotherapy in Bristol in the UK and worked in the NHS hospitals as a Senior Physiotherapist in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Rheumatology and Neurology and then in a community Clinic.
We have called Cambridge, New Zealand home since 2006 and never looked back, we love living here.
I enjoyed working as a Physiotherapist in two clinics concurrently, I worked at Cambridge Community Sports Physiotherapy Clinic (Manual and exercise therapy) and the Pilates Centre in Hamilton (Pilates Rehabilitation) this gave me an appreciation of the value to the client of combining both approaches within one session.
The opportunity to do so arose when we moved into our current property and I opened Move Physiotherapy Clinic in 2010. I am happy to say that the clinic has thrived and so have I as owner and sole practitioner and I have had the honour of working with many clients supporting them through their rehabilitation journey and beyond to better movement and so a better quality of life and wellness
My clients receive an individualised and consistently tailored approach as I aim towards not only symptom resolution but also resilience against recurrence and management of any ongoing issues.
My approach is holistic and I have evolved and refined my skills with further training and experience in manual techniques, myofascial techniques, acupuncture and movement therapy with a focus on improving biomechanics and movement patterns to reduce pain and dysfunction.
I have extended my scope to include Bradcliff Breathing Method rehabilitation of breathing pattern changes (the “how” you breathe) which has a huge influence on health and wellbeing. I support clients with Stress and Hyperventilation and the pervasive ,negative influence that changes in breath pattern can have in posture and movement resulting in pain and dysfunction.
I believe that a team-work based approach is most successful (the team being …You, Your Body and Me). I encourage my clients to have an active role in both assessment and their rehabilitation journey. I teach my clients techniques to change movement patterns and habits for the better and so gain best results by partnering with a client who is actively invested and interested in learning these changes for their rehabilitation.
I work closely to support clients and enjoy working with those with more complex and recurrent injuries or long-term conditions and persistent pain.
I am not daunted by a complex past medical history or a long list of issues and injuries, it all helps to understand how the body has got to be in the condition it is today and informs our rehabilitation journey to a better future.
